SeatDove is run by Raven Media LLC, in Honolulu, Hawaii. This note says what the site actually does with information. Questions go to [email protected].

No account

SeatDove does not ask guests or couples to sign in. There is no account, and we do not keep a profile of you on a server.

The chart stays in this browser

The seating chart is saved in this browser, in localStorage, under the name seatdove.v1. It is not uploaded when you add a guest, drag a seat, preview a sign, or build the PDF. The PDF is made on your device and downloaded from there. A saved copy is a file you keep. We never receive the guest list.

After a payment is confirmed, this browser also stores the checkout id and the chart id, under the name seatdove.unlocked, so the clean PDF can be offered again on that device. That record is not the guest list. Clearing the site data removes both records from that device.

The find-your-seat link

The link is different on purpose. The couple’s names, the date, and the name and table of each seated guest are packed into the part of the address after the #, called the hash. Browsers do not send the hash to the server. The lookup runs on the guest’s phone. Loading the page does not send those names to us. Anyone you give the link to can read that list, and the link can stay in a browser’s history or in a message thread. Guests without a seat are not included. Share a new link if the seating changes.

Payment

Checkout is handled by Stripe, on Stripe’s page. Stripe collects the buyer’s email and card details and processes the payment, under Stripe’s privacy policy. We do not see or store the card number. Stripe sends the buyer a receipt. The email and that receipt are available to Raven Media in Stripe. SeatDove does not copy the email into this browser or onto a server of our own.

After you pay, this site asks Stripe whether that checkout is paid. The request sends only the checkout id and this chart’s id, not the guest list. The reply is only whether it is paid, or why it is not. The rest of Stripe’s record is not passed back to the browser. The key used for that question lives only as a Cloudflare secret. It is not in the project and not in the browser.

Who hosts the site

Cloudflare hosts SeatDove. When a browser loads a page, a font, or the payment check, Cloudflare may log the IP address and basic request data, such as the address requested and the time, to run and protect the service. The find-your-seat names sit in the hash, which is not part of that request.

No ads, and no sale of data

This site does not include advertising or analytics scripts. We do not sell personal information.

Children

SeatDove is for people planning a wedding. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes
